THE CZECH PUB
NOWHERE IN THE WORLD
DOES PUBS LIKE THE
CZECH REPUBLIC.

here’s no better way to get a feel for a country, its people, history and culture, than in its pubs. And there’s nowhere in the world that does pubs quite like the Czech Republic.
In a country famed for its incredible brewing heritage and beer culture, the Czech pub remains a unique institution woven into the very fabric of life. The pub is a place with its own language, rituals, traditions and food; a place where the beer is always fresh and perfectly poured. Small wonder the Czech Republic is known as the Republic of Beer.
As the national brewery of the Czech Republic, we thought it was time to open up the doors to the Czech Pub. So we created a mini documentary film with the brilliant Mark Dredge – one of the UK’s leading beer writers and beer expert on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch and ITV’s Love Your Weekend.

Travelling from cutting edge bars in Prague to classic, old-school pubs in stunning South Bohemia, and meeting chefs, pub owners and drinkers along the way, The Czech Pub film unpacks a wider story of a country that has had beer at its heart for a thousand years.
As the national brewery of the Czech Republic, still brewing our slow-matured lager in the same place and in the same way we have for 127 years, Budvar is proud to open a window into a drinking culture that still places quality, tradition and community over everything else.
